Bali Hotels Association Gets New Name, Launches Website Giving Free Stays on Bali

Bali’s group of star rated hotel and resort general managers officially changed its name to “Bali Hotels Association” (BHA). The change coincides with launch of a new destination-oriented website. And, the website kicks off with a “Win a Free Stay in Bali” contest.

March 03 2004--Bali’s group of star rated hotel and resort general managers officially changed its name to “Bali Hotels Association” (BHA). The change coincides with launch of a new destination-oriented website. And, the website kicks off with a “Win a Free Stay in Bali” contest.

Founded in 1991, Casa Grande association today represents 55 members. With steady association growth and promotional efforts, presence on the Worldwide Web became essential, said BHA Chairman Robert Kelsall. “Once we began to look at taking the group global, we realized that a more representative and definitive association name was necessary.” In December 2003, the membership voted to change the association name to parallel its sister organization in the Indonesian capital, Jakarta International Hotels Association.

BHA’s new website, www.balihotelsassociation.com, provides general information about the association’s individual members, association activities, and destination-relevant news and weather. The association aims to drive traffic to the new site with a contest to win free hotel stays in Bali, simply by visiting the site and registering. BHA members have contributed room nights across Bali to support the contest, which will select winners each quarter (March, June, September and December in 2004).

Industry members will be especially interested in the “Career Opportunities” section, listing senior position vacancies at member hotels and resorts. This is a first job bank of its kind for Bali. Complete requirements to apply for one of several annual hotel-related scholarships also appear on the site. Tourism partners will find the “Useful Links” section valuable for linking their own Bali activities to the site.

A monthly “Calendar of Events” lists island holidays, special events and activities that are open to the public. Community members are welcome to contribute items to this calendar. The association looks to make this a one-stop “master calendar” of island-wide events, as a service to all industry members and visitors alike. Site visitors may register for the association’s quarterly newsletter or find details on the group’s programs, including environmental protection, community service and action. Of course, the association’s mission, vision and membership benefits are accessible, along with current board and how to become a member.

The site archives news and press releases from the association’s recent activities. Hotel and resort member information appears collectively and by area. Visitors may link directly to member hotels with a simple click, or access contact details for communication

The website was designed and is hosted by Bali-based MMC Marketing Group. The site is maintained by MMC, BHA’s public relations committee and its public relations consultant. The website launch is advertised in trade publications in Australia during the first quarter of 2004. Other markets are targeted for future exposure.
