6/18/1998 Aladdin Resort & Casino Touted as the Most Comprehensive Destination on the Strip
(LAS VEGAS) - The final girder was placed atop the 2,600-room Aladdin Resort & Casino today, foreshadowing the opening of the first Las Vegas destination resort of the new millennium.
Four hundred ironworkers from SMI Owen Steel Company gathered at the construction site to sign the final girder and celebrate the "topping out" of the 39-story tower. They were joined by Aladdin Gaming LLC Chairman Jack Sommer and the Aladdin management team; representatives from contractors ADP Marshall and Fluor Daniel; and representatives from the State of Nevada, Clark County Commission and other government dignitaries.
"The Aladdin is the most comprehensive destination resort located at the heart of the Las Vegas Strip and is designed in response to the expectations of 21st Century Las Vegas visitors, who are interested in shopping, entertainment and fine dining, as well as gaming," said Jack Sommer, chairman, Aladdin Gaming, LLC. "The new Aladdin enables our guests to experience the best of what Las Vegas has to offer in one easy-to-access location."
Opening in late spring 2000, the $1.3 billion Aladdin is the most comprehensive entertainment destination in Las Vegas, offering more shopping choices, more restaurants and more casino and entertainment options than any other resort on the Las Vegas Strip. The development includes the 2,600-room Aladdin Resort & Casino, featuring a uniquely themed 100,000 square-foot casino and extensive and flexible meeting space; Desert Passage at Aladdin, offering an extraordinary collection of sophisticated retailers, internationally-renowned cuisine, sensational night-life, and an unmatched collection of fashions; the renovated 7,000-seat Theater of the Performing Arts; and The London Club, a luxurious European-style casino-within-a-casino developed by London Clubs International, plc. The Aladdin Music Project, a second hotel and casino, will be built during Phase II of the project. |
