More Than 500 Photos Documenting Rock History to Arrive at Rio December 27

LAS VEGAS, NEV - December 3, 2002 - The Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino recently announced that the property will be the first site for the Rock X-Posed Tour of The Kodak Rock Photography Collection. The show opens Friday, December 27, and runs until March 23, 2003.

"We're thrilled that the Rio will be the first stop for this world class rock exhibition," said Tom Jenkin, senior vice president and general manager for the Rio. "The Rio is well-known for bringing one-of-a-kind events to Las Vegas, and this amazing collection of rock photos and memorabilia is another exciting display that both Las Vegas locals and visitors won't want to miss."

The Collection comprises 500 of the greatest photographs in rock music history, encompassing everything from the first Moondog Coronation Ball, hosted by seminal DJ Alan Freed in 1952 to shots of today's biggest stars.

There are posed portraits, live shots and behind the scenes glimpses of virtually every major musical act as captured by more than 130 international photographers.
These iconic photographs will also be offered for sale to the public in limited edition prints of 500. Each print will be numbered and signed by the photographer or bear a deceased photographers' estate/archive seal, in addition to the seal of The Kodak Rock Photography Collection.

The Kodak Rock Photography Collection will be housed in a 36,000 square foot semi-permanent structure, located adjacent to the Rio. The pavilion, designed by WTA Carlson Europe (designers of Sir Paul McCartney's studios, office and farms) encompasses five photographic galleries complete with rock memorabilia; an adjoining live concert venue (capacity 750) and three hospitality suites, resulting in a unique and complete entertainment experience. State of the art sound systems throughout are provided by JENSEN and AR/Acoustic Research, leaders in audio innovation.

"Never before has such a large collection of Rock and Roll photographs been compiled, reflecting the work of so many photographers," said Max Brown of Rock Shutter Productions, Curator of the Collection. "When you see all 500 shots, it really is astounding and I think that all those that view the Collection will be delighted, as there is something for everyone. There is no doubt each will have their own favorites."

Tom Page, Kodak Manager of Corporate Marketing, added "As the world's leader in imaging, our products and services have been an integral part of documenting rock and roll since its beginning, capturing some of the greatest moments in the history of the genre. We are thrilled that the public will now have a chance to see these remarkable photographs and that a facility of The Rio's stature will be hosting the inaugural showing of the Kodak Rock Photography Collection," he said.

Regarding the limited edition prints, Dennis Glavin, President of Rock Shutter Productions said, "We think one of the great things about this show is that now these images are available for people to take home, hang on their walls and enjoy, all the time. And of course they will only increase in value due to the limited edition, signatures and Kodak seal of authenticity." Also available for sale is a catalogue of all the shots including the photographers' intriguing and illuminating background anecdotes.

A portion of the sale of each limited edition print will go to Eric Clapton's The Crossroads At Antigua Foundation for the treatment of alcohol and drug addiction, the official charity of the Rock X-Posed Tour.

Leo Hageman at the Crossroads Centre expressed his appreciation to Rock Shutter Productions and Kodak for their efforts in bringing the display to the public and in honoring the Crossroads Centre as the official charity. Leo said "we hope that many people who could not otherwise afford treatment for their addictions will be able to get help as a result of the funds raised from this exhibition.

After its initial launch at the Rio, Rock X-Posed Tour will take the Kodak Rock Photography Collection to nine other major American cities over a period of two years, after which the Collection will be donated to the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland, Ohio.
