| CALIFORNIA WOMAN WINS $1.2 MILLION AT FREMONT HOTEL AND CASINO IN LAS VEGAS |
1/26/2002 January 26, 2002 LAS VEGAS, NV -- JANUARY 26, 2002 -- For the third time in less than six weeks, a Boyd Gaming Downtown casino has produced a million-dollar winner. Peggy Beels of Ontario, California won $1.2 million on The Addams Family(TM) Reel Saturday afternoon at the Fremont Hotel and Casino in Downtown Las Vegas. Beels, who had invested about $100 on the nickel IGT game, walked away with a check for the full amount. The first thing Beels said she was going to do was to pay off her bills and take a cruise. The win was the third million-plus slot jackpot at a Boyd Gaming casino in about six weeks. On January 10, Hideko Sakamoto of Aiea, HI, won $3,677,071.12 playing a 25-cent "Wheel of Fortune" game at the California Hotel & Casino. On December 12, David T. Tukunaga of Honolulu, also playing at the California Hotel & Casino grabbed a $2.5 million jackpot playing a $1 "Wheel of Fortune" slot machine. In addition, on June 4, Alex Aris of Ewa Beach, Hawaii won $1 playing Keno at the Fremont Hotel & Casino. The California Hotel and Casino and Fremont Hotel and Casino are two of the three Downtown Las Vegas properties owned by Boyd Gaming Corporation (NYSE: BYD) The corporation also owns and operates Main Street Station Casino, Hotel and Brewery, which is connected to the California Hotel and Casino via a skywalk, enabling guests to conveniently enjoy the amenities of both properties. Boyd Gaming's travel agency, Vacations Hawaii, offers charter flights and vacation packages directly to its three downtown properties. |
